DVPN Board Meeting 12/21/05 Those present: Morgan Beard Franklin Evans Diana Grayfox Three Blade Jaguar Nancy Lebowitz George Reinhart 1. Previous meeting’s minutes approved. 2. Crystal Ball/Witches Ball Three Blade will approach the Witches Ball organizers about a possible collaboration. Crystal Ball planning committee will become Witches Ball planning committee (pending approval of collaboration) 3. Membership Committee Membership Committee had first meeting in early December with 8 people. Suggestions from meeting: - Rework web site to make it more sales-oriented (Morgan will work directly with Bob on this) - Improve communication with local groups (Three Blade to draft e-mail to Broom Closet members asking them to cooperate with membership committee contacts) - $30 may be too high for membership dues, may bear further discussion - Need to make benefits of belonging to DVPN clearer to (potential) members Membership Committee members are in process of contacting local groups to update contact info and get feedback about DVPN. Morgan will report back with results. Three Blade and another local (University City) Pagan are planning to start monthly potlucks. Suggested they do it under the auspices of DVPN and called it the DVPN Potluck. Board agreed. Should have at least two people working admissions at all DVPN events so that one of them can focus on membership while the other does admission and hands stuff out. Will ask Membership Committee people to do this, or board members to fill in if needed. Morgan mentioned tote bags are running low, needs to follow up on prices and where to order more. 4. Franklin’s Surgery Franklin is scheduled for surgery on January 16th (edit: This has since been changed to the 30th) and will be out of commission for approximately 6 weeks afterwards. Public DVPN meetings to be handled by Membership Committee. Suggest next meeting to be held at the Borders at Brinton Lakes Mall. Morgan will approach a local Pagan who works there to see what he thinks. Franklin will choose victim to run board meetings in his absence. Mailbox key has been handed to Three Blade. 5. Winter Solstice Total attendance estimated at 20 West Chester, 70 Main Line, 60 Chestnut Hill for a total of 160, beating last year’s total of 132. Total revenue approximately $1,200. Of that, 1/3 goes to the venues (Main Line and Chestnut Hill, West Chester was a flat fee of $150), 1/3 to the singers, and 1/3 to DVPN. The Spiral Song singers are working toward becoming a professional singing group, and may do other Pagan-themed performances under the auspices of the Pagan Arts Initiative. 6. Newsletter Deadline for spring issue is first week of January. Three Blade needs names of ad leads and potential bulk drop locations from anybody who has them; will work on that in next week or two. Franklin will do a review of the Winter Solstice. 7. Broom Closet Should Broom Closet be formally affiliated with DVPN? George unsure of whether he and Ellen want a formal affiliation. Would like to see what exactly is being proposed. Discussion tabled until Bob can join in.             |
