Change of Venue

We were all quite disconcerted upon arriving at Maple Garden Chinese to find that it had closed, under-going renovations, and changed its name to Panda Garden. Bob being the resourceful Pagan that he his, located a piece of chalk. This enabled us to give directions on the sidewalk as to the location of our temporary meeting place at the Chinese Buffet.

Newsletter

Group discussed the successful release and distribution of our Welcome newsletter. Center city was inundated with copies. We also got newsletters out to the suburbs: Chester County, Delaware County, New Hope, Delaware and New Jersey.

Raffaella stated that Drexel Univ is now charging organizations who wish to distribute materials on campus. It is twenty cents per copy. Initial reaction to the newsletter has been favorable.

Raffaella and Bob found the cost of using Kinkos copy center to be quite expensive. We discussed the possibility of finding and setting up an agreement with a local printing company to do our printing. We also discussed the possibility of using news print instead of regular copy paper. This should also lower the cost and allow for more pages.

We have started getting in a number of submissions to be printed in future newsletters.

Nancy suggested that we post flyers at our drop off locations in between newsletters so that our name and contact information stay out there. The group agreed this was a good idea

New section in newsletter. In future issues we will list our Staff Writers. Staff writers will be those people who regularly contribute to the newsletter, but who are not on the board. This was agreed upon due to Jay?s submission of a number of articles for future issues. We agreed he deserved more than a byline.

Tabled: The possibility of accepting advertisements for future news letters was discussed.

Deliverable:

All- Locate a reasonably priced printer for future news letters

Finances

Maria gave a financial accounting. We currently have $175.00 in our 'shoe box' savings account. Maria collected the 'meeting dues.' An accounting will be made at the next meeting.

University Associations

Rafaella is still in the process of contacting the universities regarding establishing a Pagan group on campus.

Website & E-mail

The website was officially up and running today. Raffaella said we were all e-mailed with this information. She asked that we all stop in when surfing and take a look.

She also discovered an organization that is doing what we are trying to do in the community. PagaNet @ www.paganet.org is a community in the Balt/Wash. DC area whose purpose is establishing a Pagan community center. They seem to have done so successfully. We all agreed that it would be a good idea to get in touch with them for feedback, help, networking, etc. We also agreed we needed a way to track the hits made to our website. We agreed one of the best ways to do this would be to set up a Guest Book.

Deliverable:

Raffaella- Guest Book and Counter program.

July Event- Name

The group finally agreed to the name of our event. This July we will be holding the DVPN 1st Annual Summer Social. Going forward, the July Event will be the Summer Social.

Summer Social- Seminars

The group is still searching for people to hold seminars and talks. Paula spoke with her friend, Terry Wilson who is a professor at WCU. Terry agreed to do a talk and is open to suggestions. He gave us a flyer advertising his various areas of expertise.

Star will be contacting him to set something up.

Deliverable: All- Locate seminar participants and volunteers. Forward the info to Star Summer Social- Location

The location of our event is still an issue. The group agreed the location must be determined by our next meeting. July is fast approaching. Please e-mail the group with any information.

Deliverable:
Paula- Contact the Ethical Society
Raffaella- Contact Penn and Drexel

Summer Social- Guidelines

Group discussed possible guidelines for event. Agreed to wait until locationwas determined.

1st Quote of the Week: Clarity is our friend.

Summer Social- Identification of DVPN Board & Volunteers

Group discussed need to identify the board and volunteers at the Summer Social. We tossed around various ideas. T-shirts, foam hats, etc.

May 19, 8pm Panda Garden Chinese Restaurant, formerly Maple Garden
