Action Items & Deliverables
Action Item
1) DVPN 1st annual Summer Social event planning
2) Issue # 1 of Newsletter
3) Review of newsletter on 6/6/1993 Mailing List database
1st Annual Summer Social- Location Raffaella has contacted the city regarding the use of a pavilion in Fairmont Park. The space is $100.00 for the day. As this is a picnic, and not a ritual/ceremony, there should be no need of a permit. Raffaella is waiting for the paperwork to be faxed to her. The main concern the group has regarding use of a pavilion is its proximity to public transportation. Raffaella explained that public transportation is fairly good in the park area. Bob suggested trying to get a location close to the Wissahickon transfer center. The group briefly discussed use of space at Penn and the use of the Ethical Society. The group voted against these two options. The group voted in favor of using a pavilion at Fairmont Park. The vote was unanimous. Deliverable: Raffaella will confirm event location & date. Both will be posted on website and in newsletter. A map will be provided.
1st Annual Summer Social- Date The group agreed on the suggested date of July 17 for holding our event. Raffaella will confirm this when obtaining the pavilion.
1st Annual Summer Social- Food and Beverages The group unanimously agreed that we would supply all paper products, cups, garbage bags, etc for the Social. The group discussed whether to provided pre-paid boxed lunches or have a potluck meal. We reviewed various menus from caters. The minimum cost for a boxed lunch would be $6.75 or higher depending on the caterer. This would require a pre-paid order from event participants. It would also require that a volunteer be allocated to distributing the lunches. The group then discussed the option of a Potluck meal. Bob stated this was a more Pagan-like option. People would bring things that they like to eat, which would benefit practicing vegans. It would also ensure that we had a variety of foods. Maria did not think there would be much liability for the group with this type meal. The group then voted. The decision was unanimous for having a potluck meal. We then discussed beverages. We agreed that we would need donations of 5-gallon jugs for kool aid, Gatorade, water, etc. This will be finalized closer to the date of the event.
Website Raffaella then brought up the website. People are looking at it and filling out the guestbook. We also have a new link. WWW.City-Witch.com has linked to our site. Raffaella suggested we check it out, especially all of us urban Pagans. She then asked whether or not we should add an Amazon.Com banner. We have the potential to earn money from Amazon.Com by having staff book suggestions listed on the website and allowing people to order these books through Amazon.Com. The group voted unanimously to have the banner added to the website. Deliverable: All- Supply book suggestions for website.
Newsletter We've got mail! was a much-heralded topic at today's meeting. We received two letters, both from people outside the immediate Philadelphia area. Both requested to be put on the mailing list. One applied to both volunteer and submit articles. These letters brought about a new topic to be added to our submission form. The questions ìHow did you hear about us? and Where did you get our newsletter? will be added to the submission form. Bob agreed to review the Broom Closet calendar and 'clean it up' for the next issue of the newsletter. Raffaella stated that we have reviewed a number of articles for the newsletter. Several of which have been written by Jay. Bob brought up printing costs. How are we going to get the next issue printed? The group agreed the cost of printing the welcome issue of newsletter was very expensive. He suggested that we look into a printer. Raffaella suggested we look into a printer who will print on newsprint for us. The cost of this paper is much less than regular paper.
