Philadelphia Pagan Pride Day for 2006 was a quietly successful event. The weather was glorious. We had vendors for the first time, and they were mostly happy with their results. Attendance was modest but generous: Approximately 100 people contributed about 125 pounds of food, which we delivered to a very grateful Mazzoni Center in Center City.
The event took place in Clark Park, a city park in West Philly occupying a bucolic break in the urban landscape between 43rd and 44th Streets, and between Baltimore and Chester Avenues. It is truly a beautiful park, with a deep and welcoming energy, and the pride of the residents and neighbors of that area of the city. In addition to the Pagans who came by, there was a strong walk-through traffic from the local residents, who were curious but likewise welcoming. The afternoon included a roundtable discussion with representatives of several different traditions, including Wiccans, Druids, Italian Traditional, and Heathens. Afterwards, the Ansuz Kindred treated us to a Heathen symbel in honor of the land spirits, in which their influence on the world was remembered. Planning has already begun for next year. We have ambitions to ramp up the energy and excitement for this event, including vendors again and adding entertainment in the form of live music. Anyone who would like to participate in the organization of the event are encouraged to contact us at
