DVPN Board Meeting 2/15/06 Those present: Morgan Beard Bob Bruhin Diana Grayfox Nancy Lebovitz George Reinhart Three Blade Jaguar 1. Minutes from last meeting approved. Morgan will post on site. 2. Newsletter Spring 2006 issue successfully printed and mailed. Distribution in progress. Cost of printing = $452.57 (after 10% discount for printing error on last issue) + $77.18 postage (stamps plus bulk mailing) for a total of $529.75. Ad revenue for one full-page ad plus two quarter pages = $300. Morgan to send text of articles and a low-res PDF to Bob to post on the site. Suggested that Morgan also submit the Pagan Studies article to Witchvox. Three Blade following up on distribution points for the newsletter and potential new advertisers, going out to visit people as time and resources allow. Plans to add some UU churches to the distribution list. Deadline for next issue is the beginning of April. 3. Membership Based on past membership committee meeting, Morgan proposed lowering basic rates for membership and introducing a tiered system to encourage people to donate, similar to public radio and TV. After some discussion, the following was agreed: Basic membership = $20 Student/Senior = $15 Families = $30 (These three levels get membership card w/discounts and newsletter only) Patron = $50 (Membership benefits + some kind of promo bag -- Morgan to research) Benefactor = $100 (Membership benefits + other giveaway, possibly a roll-up picnic blanket with one waterproof side for gatherings) 4. West Philly Pagan Potluck First meeting March 15. Hoping to make it ongoing, will see about interested. Potential for other areas as well, esp. Mt. Airy/Chestnut Hill. 5. PAI Arts calendar is done! Bob now out beating bushes for artistic people to contribute. Will send invitations to people on Fringe list with a Pagan bent and promote it to various lists. 6. Random Financial Stuff Three Blade has checks to deposit. Question of whether we might be able to take credit cards directly on our site for membership and etc. as opposed to making them go through PayPal. Bob to inquire with bank about what would be needed to take credit cards. Diana suggested if we get our own machine it might be just a small fee + a percentage of the transaction. 7. Summer Social In planning stages. Membership committee is soliciting suggestions from various area groups about venue, date, etc. Venue under discussion is somewhere north of the city. Suggested somewhere near Ft. Washington, possibily where Folk Song Society has gathering. Dates to avoid: Pagan Spirit and also Free Spirit. If anyone thinks of anything else that might conflict, please let Morgan know. Will set up poll on DVPN site and send message asking for feedback to DVPN list and List of Lists. Morgan suggested trying to get a big name and then turning it into a membership drive -- say, if we get x number of new or renewing members by this date, we’ll make it a free events. Suggested people to ask about: Silver Ravenwolf, Christopher Penzeck (sp?), Margot Adler. Other suggestions, pls. send to Morgan. 8. Witches Meetup Philadelphia Witches Meetup has several activities planned for coming months. Morgan to contact them and offer collaboration.             |
